As part of our goodbye to the senior members of the Kol BT staff, I interviewed Lindsay B. ‘23, co-editor-in-chief of Kol BT. Having been at Beth Tfiloh since sixth grade, Lindsay offered her wisdom on surviving high school, reminisced about the past three-and-a-half years, and shared her plans for her future.
As editor-in-chief, Lindsay brought her love of reading and writing to Kol BT. She loved coming up with new story ideas for each issue and plans to major in English Literature or Journalism in college, continuing the passion she fostered in high school. Her favorite books are Daisy Jones and the Six, Pride and Prejudice, and The Hunger Games. For her senior internship, Lindsay is reading and critiquing screenplays for writer and producer, Scott Rosenfeld. In ten years, she hopes to maintain her love for writing and traveling. This summer, she will travel Europe with her family. At BT, Lindsay’s writing skills led her to take both AP English Language and AP English Lliterature, courses that challenged her preconceived notions about writing. Lindsay likes to spend time planning and organizing her essays, but the timed writing section on the test challenged her to write efficiently.
Kol BT was one of Lindsay’s favorite extracurriculars, but she also loved participating in theater, including Beth Tfiloh’s recent production of Cats. Since her first year at BT, Lindsay has appeared in the school musical every year. But Lindsay has changed in many ways since high school began, especially after COVID-19 during her freshman year. She is excited to bring her new ways of thinking and acting to college. In the meantime, Lindsay’s senior year has brought plenty of insights. Although she experienced a lot of senioritis after she turned in college applications, Lindsay said her greatest advice to rising seniors is to start their CommonApp as soon as possible. Amid all the stress of high school, she urges everyone to enjoy their time since it goes by so quickly. Finally, her favorite memory was havdalah at the end of this year’s shabbaton and learning from her teachers as a source of inspiration.
