Seventeen-year-old Olivia Rodrigo gained fame after starring in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” and after releasing the song, “Just for a Moment” with her co-star, Joshua Bassett.
After season one, the show garnered many fans and Rodrigo’s fan base skyrocketed after the release of her first single “Driver’s License.” The lyrics touch on coming of age, love, growth, heartbreak, and driving skills. On various social media platforms, people have discussed her song as well as few new releases. Many people speculated that the song was written indirectly about her co-star, Joshua Bassett, however, she has not confirmed this as true.
Not only has Rodrigo released new songs, but Joshua Bassett and Sabrina Carpenter, the supposed “blonde girl” she refers to in her new single, have as well. Joshua Bassett recently wrote “Lie Lie Lie,” creating suspicions that the song was directed at “Driver’s License” and more specifically, Olivia Rodrigo. In addition to Bassett, Sabrina Carpenter also released a new song. Many questions have arisen regarding whether or not the songs are a publicity stunt, who the songs are truly written about, and whether there is a new love triangle. While they have not confirmed the song’s meanings, maybe one of the artists will expose information soon. However, while they haven’t, I definitely recommend listening to the new songs if you get the chance.
